Lady Killer and Ba Take Manhattan 3.0

So back when we told the family that we were moving up to Manhattan there were mixed reactions. Naturally The Lady Killer, nephew, was luke warm at the thought of visiting us up here. Granted the kid was 10 but his list was pretty much the same as a lot of first time tourists;

  • Empire State (nope)
  • Jimmy Fallon Show (sorry dude you have to be 18 to see the show)
  • Ice Skating at Rockefeller Center (we ain’t visiting the ER this trip dude)
  • Statue of Liberty (how about a trip on the Staten Island Ferry instead)
  • 9/11 Memorial, Wall Street, Stock Exchange, Bull (think we got 2 of 4 knocked out)
  • Times Square (you must want a punch in the throat)
  • Nike Town (oh someone must have been on “the google”)
  • Gap in Times Square (just seeing if you are still paying attention)

Since this trip was the 3rd trip for Ba and the Lady Killer we had added trips to Stadium Goods and Fight Club. If you are not sure what those stores are, get a load of this shit. If you want to find a pair of those Patrick Ewing Georgetown Nike’s that were all the rage back in 1985? I am sure one of these stores has them but you better bring your wallet because you are going to pay a pretty penny for them. This trip Lady Killer didn’t get any fancy old school shoes but he did swing by The NBA Store and NikeTown to get some swag.

IMG_1979Tortured J-Bob a little in saying that it was going to be closed during the weekend for cleaning. He didn’t buy it!

IMG_2009Lady Killer and Cuz AL (in addition to shaving that shit off his upper lip we are going to work on his smiling)

IMG_2010How can I snub someone who came to Patrizias to celebrate their birthday. I may be an asshole but I am not an insensitive one. *photo credit to AL

IMG_1999Lady Killer and “My Aunt Bette” – Again dude why no smile? Oh and next trip we are cutting the Bama Bangs a little.

IMG_2002Bacon and Tomatoes – What else do you eat at Peter Lugar?

IMG_2004Oh yeah, I had a mild chubby when they brought this sucker to the table. Pro-Tip – save some bread for the meat juice.

IMG_2005The View of one of the shoe walls at Flight Club. Please note that this picture was taken while I was sitting my big ass on a bench.

We had a fun time! Come back next summer and we can take you to Coney Island!

Pictures of the Week

Finally got to post 3 posts this week. It helps when you go out and do things during the week. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Ba and “The Ladykiller” are arriving this afternoon.

IMG_1928Way back when we came up here with ABC (pre booger) we dined here. Had no idea where it was. Imagine my surprise when it was next to Joes’ Pub

IMG_1929Texted this to ABH and she ‘threatened’ to come up here. Come on!

IMG_1930Swing Band at the Library

IMG_1959Believe it or not you can you can move this sucker on its axis.

IMG_1961Let’s take a Citi Bike home! #saidnooneever

IMG_1962If I ever peg my pants I give you permission to kick me in the baby maker and punch me in the throat!

 Have a good weekend folks.

You want a burger?

Recall when I went to grab a burger with FZ while the girls were slugging wine like it were their jobs having wine club? I may have found a very good contender to knock Le Parker off the pedestal. Since the Losers Lounge show was starting at 9:30 we decided to grab dinner prior. The restaurant at Joe’s Pub is so-so and very expensive so I told Mrs. Trumpet we would explore the East Village before the show.

We walked down the street and found Paul’s Da Burger Joint on Second Avenue. It was dimly lit, looked like you needed a tetanus shot just to walk in the joint so it was perfect. We grabbed a table and within seconds 2 Bud Lights appeared. Mrs. Trumpet went for the sliders as all the burgers are half a pound. I opted for the “Soul Burger” in memory of that little burger joint on South Main. The “Soul Burger” is a half pound burger cooked with fried onions, cheese and ham, lettuce and tomato are optional. Sorry Rock-Mo and Andy, the don’t have a Greek Burger on the menu.

Let me tell you, the burger is legit! I snapped some pictures of the boys cooking the burgers (it does resemble Ernestine & Hazels) and it did remind me of home. We shall be back.

IMG_1926Established in 1989 – Hell New Jersey Dave was born that year! Its as old as him!

IMG_1927No Seth I am not going to ‘relocate’ this for you. Come up here and steal it yourself.

IMG_1921Mock all you will, I am loyal to those boys in St. Louis!

IMG_1920Looks like the counter was painted by a 6th grade class

IMG_1922You got to love torn up bar stools.

IMG_1923Doesn’t it resemble E&H’s on South Main?

IMG_1924Using the Cake Toppers to cook the burgers, that was unique.

FZ – We can go down there when the girls get their wine on!

Losers Lounge Tribute to The Bee Gees

After a summer hiatus the losers assembled once again at Joe’s Pub and naturally the Loser groupies got a table. This show was a tribute to those Australian boys and Disco Inferno super group The Bee Gees. We were missing some from our group so we invited Vivian Longstreet and her husband to join us. The First set was kind of a yawner as they played a bunch of ‘deep cuts’ that we enjoyed but come on, its a disco band. Play the stuff we know! Needless to say the Second act was much better and Vivian even joined the band and sang a duet with some schmo. “Islands in the Stream” was their choice and even though WordPress won’t allow me to upload the video it is a shame. Vivian killed it.

IMG_1932We were in the back this time. I swear we have not sat in the same seat in this joint.

IMG_1933Opening Song

IMG_1939Who doesn’t love a little Bee Gees A Cappella?

IMG_1941Belize and ACMB Fans (lets see if any of you feckers read this) Doesn’t the Bongo Player look like Ken F of Ken and Mel? Sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. He will be missed.

IMG_1945Yep I was texting UWS Holly who was +6 hours ahead of us in South Africa. It was worth it!

IMG_1947Even Bjarni/Clem was impressed with their rendition of “Grease” or Lubricant as they said they were to be singing.

IMG_1948Vivian getting ready to slay the dragon!

IMG_1950She did great!

IMG_1951Ahem Maria, can you get me a copy of that!

IMG_1952The incomparable Anna Copacabana!

IMG_1956Joe Closing us out!

Hope you had a good weekend! If anyone knows how to take better pics at a concert please let me know. I suck at this.

New York City Wine and Food Festival – Pigs and Pints

CBT was lucky enough to score some tickets to Robert Irvine’s “Pigs and Pints” event at The Standard Hotel’s Biergarden. This event is your basic Zoo Rendezvous where 12 local chefs showcase one of their Pig Inspired dishes. Oh yeah there was Wine, Bourbon and Beer too!

I was somewhat luke warm with Robert Irivine being the host because I don’t really know much about him. That and let’s be honest, he ain’t effin Giada! That quickly changed once we got into the venue which is conveniently located below the High Line. As one can imagine 700 folks all heading to the bar and food tables creates a little bottleneck. We were waiting to get Pork Poutine from Robert Irvine’s Public House and there was a woman in front of us who was trying to ask the chefs foodie questions. Robert turned around from taking pictures and yelled at this woman “It is real simple lady, quit looking at it, grab a plate and move on!” Needless to say the woman wasn’t thrilled but “Bless her heart” if you can’t figure out Cheese Curds, BBQ and Tater Tots then maybe you need to rethink life. Oh and Robert’s wife is smoking hot too!

Most interesting  versions that we ate;

  • Robert Irvine’s Public House’s BBQ Poutine – who doesn’t love cheese and fries?
  • Ricardo Barreras’ Pillar Cuban Eatery- Pulled on site whole hog with Potato Salad and Cuban Rice. And naturally the crispy skin too!
  • Joe LoNigro’s Otto’s Tacos – The taco was so-so but the green verde sauce on it was a unique taste.
  • Brian Ray’s Buddakan – They did a BBQ Dumpling that was the Bomb! It needed some more seasoning but it was good.
  • Hugh Mangum’s Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque – he was doing sandwiches that was pretty good
  • Leah Cohen’s Piggy Back Bar in Jersey City – they did an Asian flavored rib that was pretty good. Hey @Brizzyc you need to try this joint out if you haven’t tried it yet.

IMG_1902These will be going up on the wall soon!

IMG_1875Robert Irvine entertaining guests. Dude is on the road 150+ days

IMG_1874Yeah, they chop the pork so what! They should have seasoned the pork with a dry rub.

IMG_1876Trust me when I say that this crowd pic was early on in the evening. It was packed

IMG_1877Poutine Station by Robert Irvine’s Public House – we found a quiet place next to them.

IMG_1878Oh I bet the PETA people will not be happy. Or the Kosher folks either!

IMG_1879You want a Taco or you want to take pictures?

IMG_1883It was a fun party!

Hope you had a good weekend!

Pics of the Week and it’s been a busy one too!

In no particular order;

  • Happy Birthday Mrs. Trumpet! (what, do you honestly think I am not going to give her top billing? I realize she doesn’t read this worthless dribble but I am all about keeping the peace in 535 square feet)
  • Congrats to Double D on her engagement! It took that boy long enough! I mean Amy Farrah Fowler and I were starting to wonder if he ever was going to get off the fence and quit living in sin with you. No in all seriousness, congrats and elope!
  • Who has 2 thumbs and saw Martha “Snoop is my nizzle” Stewart on the street with work wife this Wednesday? This guy!
  • Who has 2 thumbs and saw Geoffrey Zakarian with “The Rock and Roll Rep” on the street this Thursday? This Guy!! If you are a foodie you will know who I am talking about.
  • Who has 2 thumbs and is going to the New York Food and Wine Festival on Saturday? *Yeah we can figure it out Carbunkle, go fuck yourself!*
  • And we finally have cooler weather in Manhattan! I only saw 3 puffy coats yesterday and one stocking cap.

Enough about me, have a good weekend

1433159218020Not only is a foodie guy he loves cigars and orange pants too! He actually was taller than I imagined.

IMG_1858Views from the penthouse office doesn’t suck you know!

IMG_1860Art is in the eye of the beholder. Or as I see it, someone went a little crazy with the bedazzler

IMG_1854I am going through reading glasses like Trump is going through popularity points

IMG_1853Hey Former Neighbor – I ment to ask you, did you and EBT husband ride one of these?

IMG_1848Doty – I found us a Honkey Tonk in Hells Kitchen!

IMG_1821You forget that you are also a Cruise Line hub till you see one of these big ass things go by on the Hudson

IMG_1820Missed the West Village!

IMG_1838Sometimes you have to stop and smell the fake flowers in our lobby

IMG_1803Happy Birthday to the Cougar! The Monkey Heads are going shopping today for you!

IMG_1802Guessing Someone is a Hot Rod Fan!

Have a good weekend!

“You live the glamorous life in Gotham don’t you?”

I get that a lot from different people who don’t live here. Trust me when I say that our life isn’t always going to Dive Bars, eating at fancy places and driving around in a Rolls with our own driver. Well…..we do like Dive bars but scratch numbers two and three. Anyway here is what my ‘Typical’ Saturday looks like. Mind you I don’t have a car so all of these errands are done on foot and I have to lug this shit back to the apartment.

IMG_1835First I bang out any remaining work ish. That way I don’t have to worry about doing any of that on Sunday. I ‘try’ to get my stuff done during the week but stuff happens.

IMG_1840When I die, I want to come back as a Monkey Head. Tough life as they ‘struggle’ to survive on the mean streets of Manhattan. *the white dog is snoring like a freight train right now as I type this*

IMG_1843I became someone this week. When I hit the door the guys at the Coffee Inn know to get my Pumpkin Spice Latte ready. They also shine up their shoe to kick me square in the balls too!

IMG_1823I know that we have all the delivery services for groceries but every once in a while you just like to go squeeze the produce. Tomatoes are now out of season but I am still jonesing for BLT’s in October.

IMG_1824Looking North on First Avenue – That was the street that we saw the Pope by the way.

IMG_1827I had to swing by my physicians office to get my flu ‘shot’ *KLC Man and RMT – You see what I did there?*

IMG_1826There is Maria’s beloved Citi Bike station. Notice how it is empty. They can’t keep a bike up here in the UES. It was a great day on Saturday also.

IMG_1830Got to swing by and pick up my dry cleaning and say hello to Ms. Nguyen

IMG_1831This place is no bigger than a shoe box. They do laundry by the pound, offer dry cleaning and she does my alterations too

IMG_1828On this past Saturday Momma went all the way to Westchester county to Apple Pick but they had major logistical issues so she promptly came back. Roughly she spent 6 hours for nothing so I figure she could use some flowers. According to ‘my guy’ the flowers were good this week since the hurricanes are not stopping flights.

IMG_1825Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital

IMG_1839Had to pick up some Paper Towels since we were on the last roll. *Insert President Joke here*

IMG_1833Trust me when I say that bag weighs roughly 40 pounds. You have to plan out your trip if you don’t want someone to lug your stuff for you.

IMG_1834Since it was 86 degrees this week, I had to have a suit cleaned since it was kind of ‘stinky’ I will be ready to start bitching about being cold soon!

IMG_1836Finally Some Carbunkle Trumpet Time!

Keep it light folks!

Dude, where have you been? Pics on a Humpday!

It is either Feast or Famine. I am ‘En Fuego” or I ‘Suck Cock’ according to A4532 (I am kind of excited I have hate/fan mail from the same person) Shout out to you A4532! Anyway here are some mid week pictures for you. And naturally thanks for reading this worthless dribble.

IMG_1763So we sell a 3 pack of 2X5’s here up here. Why didn’t I realize this sooner?

IMG_1767Yo Chef! How about some love when we try to get a table at your joint on W51st street? *Mrs. Trumpet was very happy about this picture in that this was the first time she saw Eric Ripert in the UES*

IMG_1725A ‘Southern Grocery? Tell me more son.

IMG_1724It may not work up here. I get beat up all the time when I say these phrases. Good Luck buddy!

IMG_1730See the red border pic? We now have 2 portraits behind the bars of fine establishments now.

IMG_1742Is that Mother Fucker wearing Tennis Shoes on his morning commute? F you dude!

IMG_1780This was the 3rd train that I stood online waiting to ‘try’ to get onboard. And this was a Tuesday. #CBTwaslatetowork #Andfuckingpissed #Twitterwasablaze

IMG_1789Shout out to LZ for making me ‘drink on the street’ this past Friday. If you look up in the middle of this pic you can see a half ball to the right of the building. That is the New Years Eve Ball for 2018. And Just think we only have 3 more years till Trump is gone!

Oh and “A4532: do me a favor….Go Fuck Yourself! Don’t make me Michael Rapaport ‘Shame” you…..You Dumb Motherfucker!

Happy Wednesday!

“Hey Memphis, you call XXXX at Patrizia’s on Broadway and you tell them Ritchie from Brooklyn sent you!”

So two Sunday Fundays ago we ventured over to Hell’s Kitchen and revisited Rudy’s Bar. While the Giants were going to lose on a last minute field goal to a Memphis kid we made friends with a guy from Brooklyn. “Ritchie” *not his real name* figured out that even though I looked Irish, spoke like I was from Texas but really was Italian turned into my best friend. We watched the Giant’s dreams get crushed and go 0-3 *S/O to Gurleygurl who may have a gun to her head b/c the boys in blue are now 0-4* Ritchie pretty much explained to me the better Eye-Talian joints here in New York. He recommended a joint in Williamsburg named Patrizia’s.

The comment that made me take his name and number down was epic; “Hey Memphis, you like Family Style service with pitchers of beer and bottles of wine? Then you need to go to Patrizia’s and forgettaboutit!”  I made a mental note that this place had to be on my short list and we needed to visit it. Editors Note – I realize that I will not be able to give this place proper justice because how can you describe an Italian Sing-a-long joint with food so good that you can’t get anywhere in Memphis? Well, I ripped the Band-Aid off. So here is where I am going to piss off some serious Foodies in Memphis.

Please tell me where you can get a 10 course top notch meal with free refills of wine, beer, sangria, coffee service with Sambuca and costs $60 bucks per person. Shall I type that again for you? 10 fucking courses, endless bottles of Red, unlimited bottles of White, Pitchers of Sangria, Peroni Beer and it only costs you Sixty Bucks Per FUCKING PERSON! Yeah I am going to have some people give me hate-mail for this one. Guido, feel free to come up and stay with us. Trust me, It is THAT good!

I do realize that there maybe some old Memphis Giovanni’s alum readers out there so get a load of this menu from their pre-fixe menu;

  • Burrata with tomatoes
  • Eggplant Parmigiana
  • Margherita Pizza
  • Fried Calamari
  • Baked Clams, Mussels and Grilled Baby Octopus
  • Lobster
  • Fried Squid with Shrimp
  • Homemade Pasta
  • Lamb Chops or Chicken Scarpariello
  • Assortment of Italian Desserts

Did I mention that we drank bottles of wine, pitchers of beer and it was perfect Italian Restaurant sing-a-long joint too?

IMG_1769We sent this picture over to Travel Queen/3 Day Traveler the day we walked in!

IMG_1770That;’s not Ritchie but doesn’t this guy look like Percy who used to live in Memphis?

IMG_1793Let’s start with some drinks shall we?

IMG_1797I did had pictures of previous courses but for some reason I was too drunk to find them can’t find them. So here is my Entrée course of chops and pasta purses.

IMG_1795This place screams Family Style!

IMG_1796Its your Birthday! Its your Birthday!

1463320772220So Lady Barrister is going to bust me out because she realizes this is a stock photo I am posting. Yes I did steal a pic because we had too much fun the night of for me to take a pic.

IMG_1804Yeah, we paid 120 bucks for 2 people and we had a fridge full of food. It was comical when we were trying to settle up the bags with Lady Barrister.

So who wants to come up here and hang out at an Eye-Talian Chuck E Cheese Joint?
