Losers Lounge Show

Weekends in New York can really suck ya know?

You recall when I was whining like a little bitch talking on Monday about having MPH and I was glad it was back to work? I better give you the cliff notes because if I went went blow by blow on each night then some of you may want to have an intervention. Trust me when I say that the RJ Fun-O-Meter was pegged pretty much every night.

Friday Night was the wedding and dance recital of Z(Squared) at the Boat House in Central Park. The Asian Fireman and Realtor Wife were in attendance as well as Muphranks. The Work Wife (The Managing one) was there with her Midtown Uniform wearing husband as well as a bunch of other Time Square double decker tour bus ticket sales reps. The wedding was short, to the point and everyone said yes. The food, the never emptying glasses of wine, the band, and even dancing were a great and then when the glow sticks came out……aww shit it was on like Donkey Kong!!! Many thanks to Lady Barrister for remaining awake to navigate our safe arrival to Downtown Brooklyn. I hope that Mary Louise didn’t snore too bad. Truth be told Mr. 3 First Names and I weren’t really sleeping, we were just resting our eyes. Congrats to Z(squared) on making it legal and thanks for a great party.

Hey D(squared) at AMF/HQ on Tully Street in Crime-Free New Chicago – call me this week. I saw a really cool thing at this party that you may want to consider it for your next Thanksgiving Wedding. #RoboCares

Saturday day was spent relaxing and celebrating Mary Louie’s anniversary of circling the sun. That evening we attended the Losers Lounge rendition of Barry Manilow & Bette Midler. I learned something very important about this show. Apologies to my homosexual readers but I found out that I really don’t like the music of Barry Manilow. I mean other than Copacabana his stuff is just crap. Here is where I am going to further upset you more – any rendition of Bette Midler and the movie “Beaches” really needs to Fucking Stop also.

Sunday was spent yet again with a music theme and as luck would have it we got to hang with Vivian Longstreet and Della Forte again. We saw them Saturday night and then when we arrived at the Barclays for Phil Collins they were also in the same suite we were in. Phil Collins was great and his voice is the same and even though he was recuperating from back surgery which slowed him down a bit his 17 year old son played the Drums. Great Show and we were glad that we decided to attend the show.

IMG_4467Yep, we are in Black Tie heading to the event stuck in traffic

IMG_4469I am so glad that Mr. 3 First Names, Asian Fireman and I sat down at someone else’s table because the amount of glassware full of booze is really appalling. We all drank mineral water that night.

IMG_4473You can always tell a good night out by what you purchase the next day for lunch. Work Wife (Managing One) got World Famous Halal guys on Saturday. We opted for $50 worth of greasy Mexican Food and a nap.

Like I said it really was a shitty weekend in New York. I hope that we get to do it again.

Don’t Rock The Boat – Losers Lounge takes to the Hudson

You have heard about our many visits to Joe’s Pub to see The Losers Lounge. During the summer the Losers traditionally take a break and don’t perform but kick back up in the fall months. The next show is next month but there was a special performance that Vivian and Stone had purchased tickets and suggested that we attend. The show was a Disco Themed and it was on the Circle Line boat.

Joe and the Losers didn’t disappoint at all! Playing all the hits and with the backdrop of Manhattan you get the picture. It was cool as crap!

Seriously This Town Sucks – Saturday

So when I left you with Yesterday’s Post we finished up with drinks with UWS Holly. Saturday we had a double header since we were going to attend the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. Later that evening we were to assemble at Joe’s Pub to listen to Losers Lounge tribute to the late Tom Petty. Seriously, like I said yesterday; if you couldn’t find something to do this past weekend you weren’t looking.

My previous Mermaid Parade date LZ was busy with her 1-2 step class so Mary Louise Geranium and I headed on the Q to Coney Island. Unlike last year’s almost rained out parade we had another beautiful weekend day so and as T-Rex’s mother would say “The whore’s were out in full force!” because it was crowded! Like front row at the Beale Street Music Fest Crowded. We decided to take refuge in one of our normal Coney Island haunts and the crowd did tone down a tad. We ventured out a little but considering we had a full evening we decided that “Day Drinking” was a bad idea if we were to make the 9:30 show.

We swung by the new Mexican joint just opened up in Fort Greene and then took a little nap before the show. You know with a Losers Lounge show from those that I have reported in the past that the line up and the band were going to be great. This tribute we had some new performers as well usual the old ones and they didn’t disappoint.

Onto the pictures and sorry to you perv’s because I am not posting any pictures of girls wearing only sequins or jewels on their boobs. I now have a younger crowd following this worthless dribble. That and I don’t want my Grandmother or sister to bust up on my 14 year old nephew beating like it owes him money because he saw a half naked girl from Bay Ridge on this post. (yep I went there)

IMG_3440That is someone’s daughter right there folks. She is going to have an interesting sunburn on her boobs.

IMG_3441Did they realize that it is going to be hot as balls out there on Saturday

IMG_3442Since we didn’t have a crown nobody wanted to get a picture with us.

IMG_3341That is some good stuff here folks!

IMG_3448We miss you Tom!

Like I said, the weekend really sucked!

Spring Like Weather and Then Hurricane Tucker

Hope you guys had a fun weekend. I am sure that there a some of you in Memphis who didn’t heed my warning on Twitter and blew it out hard at Rajun Cajun yesterday. Here is to hoping that your hands aren’t shaking too bad as you read this. Finally the weather broke on Friday and Saturday till 5PM. It actually was ‘bead of sweat’ warm on Friday as I joked with the doormen that people will probably be bitching about the heat. Saturday didn’t disappoint until the front moved in and it got chilly on our ride home from Brooklyn.

Friday I got home and we had our Midwestern friend Tucker heading in from New Jersey. She was across the Hudson for work training and decided to spend an evening with us and fly out Saturday. This was just fine with us as we knew we were in for a full fun night. Since she was rolling into town I was able to find 3 tickets to Losers Lounge Friday night as they were giving tribute to “The Last Waltz.” We met up at the apartment and then had dinner at a Geoffrey Zakarian joint in Midtown East.

If you have been paying attention you will know that I have been doing some juice cleansing and clean eating. Well that shit came to a tumbling halt on Friday as I switched over from green grass and tree bark drinks to Potato based liquid and what the hell. I got me a GZ burger and added bacon to it too! The show didn’t disappoint and the post show drinks were good (?) and before Tucker’s hair could deflate she was headed to LGA.

Saturday we went over to Downtown Brooklyn to check out apartments and had drinks with lady barrister since Mr. 3 First Names was out of town.  Walking into The Commissioner was warm and sunny and temps in the 70’s. Walking out the bottom dropped out of the bottom and it was around 50 with a good wind. Thankfully we had some jet fuel in us but that walk to the subway was brutal!

IMG_2970Sadly I never saw the movie and the second act didn’t dissapoint

IMG_2968Yep all the favorite were preforming tonight

IMG_2965But first lets take a selfie!

IMG_2980Yep he did a Van Morrison song and for those of you wondering that is the same person who sang George Micheal

untitledPretty much it starts out nice here then goes downhill very soon afterwards!

IMG_2986More on this later but we went to Downtown Brooklyn on Saturday

Thanks for a fun weekend Tucker and hope everyone behaved this weekend. Its going to be a shitty couple of days up here weather wise.

Oy Vey……

*In order to get the full effect this should be read aloud in a Jewish Mother’s accent – “You never take me anywhere, I come home from work, slave away in the kitchen to make your dinner and you never appreciate me.” No Mrs. Trumpet didn’t say it exactly like that but it was along the lines of “we used to always have Super Bowl party plans.” Now before half of you readers start in on my ass with the “Yeah Cheap Ass Carbunkle Trumpet, why don’t you take the little lady out on the town.” We are leaving this Friday for some much-needed warmth and binge drinking so lay off!

We already had some plans going into the Cold Ass Weekend. We were going to see a play that our cousin was working in at her school. And another thing, it is cold as Balls up here, do you know how exhausting that is? Friday afternoon when we both got home we both took a nap and that hasn’t happened in a long time. After our nap we walked up the block to Manhattan Marymount where our cousin AL attends. AL is a fulltime student getting a degree in theater performance and double minor and when she isn’t doing all of that her little butt seeing every Broadway show known to man! She is a good kid and even will keep our Monkey heads when we sneak out of town.

The play was “Punk Rock” written by Simon Stephens and is based 6 student who attend an English Private School. AL told us on the front end that there would be some language and mature content and I am always down for some cursing and ‘awkward touch’ but this was a really good performance. It was dark and what I always appreciate about seeing something like this is that it makes you think afterwards. Hell, even at our dinner on Saturday night we were discussing the play. So thank you AL for the invite and please keep us on line for any future shows.

Saturday morning I had to take the Monkey Heads to the groomers and got some chores done. Earlier in the week Time Out Magazine mentioned that there were still some tickets available for Losers Lounge’s Tribute to Barbara Streisand. Maria was unavailable and because there were a small number of seats available (like right in front of the horns section) it was just me and Mrs. Trumpet. The show was great and as usual Joe and the gang killed it.

Afterwards Mrs. Trumpet and I went big balls and dined at the famed Le Coq Rico or as I called it “a chicken joint.” I will post separately about this joint because one can’t appreciate the meal that we had and I am nearing my 500-word limit.
So which one of you bastards wants to call me out for not taking Mrs. Trumpet out on the town? A play, a concert, a fancy dinner, plenty of good drink… Yeah That’s what I thought!

IMG_2649_LI (2)The Program from the play on Friday night. And until she wins a Tony or turns 21 whichever comes first you don’t need to know her name. We are very proud of her and know that she will be a success.

IMG_2660My view Saturday night at the show. Yeah my right ear is still ringing from this dude’s trumpet but it was a great show.

IMG_2669 (1)The Cast from “Punk Rock” from the program. It is neat knowing that at least 1 if not all will be preforming on Broadway or somewhere similar down the road.

IMG_2668I see that face and can’t stop thinking of “Meet The Fockers”

IMG_2663Sorry Grainbin Girl – Yes this is Chicken Stock Risotto with Shaved Parmigiano Reggiano and Black Truffles. It was decedent and good to the last drop!

Image-1It is always nice to know that Babs “Does Bring Me Flowers” as she sent this to Joe and the band!

So what did you Fuckers do this weekend? You still suffering from “Ring of Fire” from eating too many wings last night watching the Super Bowl?

Losers Lounge Tribute to The Bee Gees

After a summer hiatus the losers assembled once again at Joe’s Pub and naturally the Loser groupies got a table. This show was a tribute to those Australian boys and Disco Inferno super group The Bee Gees. We were missing some from our group so we invited Vivian Longstreet and her husband to join us. The First set was kind of a yawner as they played a bunch of ‘deep cuts’ that we enjoyed but come on, its a disco band. Play the stuff we know! Needless to say the Second act was much better and Vivian even joined the band and sang a duet with some schmo. “Islands in the Stream” was their choice and even though WordPress won’t allow me to upload the video it is a shame. Vivian killed it.

IMG_1932We were in the back this time. I swear we have not sat in the same seat in this joint.

IMG_1939Who doesn’t love a little Bee Gees A Cappella?

IMG_1941Belize and ACMB Fans (lets see if any of you feckers read this) Doesn’t the Bongo Player look like Ken F of Ken and Mel? Sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. He will be missed.

IMG_1945Yep I was texting UWS Holly who was +6 hours ahead of us in South Africa. It was worth it!

IMG_1947Even Bjarni/Clem was impressed with their rendition of “Grease” or Lubricant as they said they were to be singing.

IMG_1948Vivian getting ready to slay the dragon!

IMG_1950She did great!

IMG_1951Ahem Maria, can you get me a copy of that!

Hope you had a good weekend! If anyone knows how to take better pics at a concert please let me know. I suck at this.

Losers Lounge Tribute to Fleetwood Mac

The first weekend of June the Losers and the Joe McGinty 7 assembled one last time before the summer break. This show was to showcase the songs from Fleetwood Mac. This time we were joined by UWS Girl and Z Squared along with the other malcontents. No assless chaps like we saw at the George Michael show which probably scared EGP but there was a good duet.

IMG_0984I need some Bongo’s! Everything is better with Bongos!

IMG_0988I pretty much peed down my leg laughing from this duet.

IMG_0983Yes she is wearing a Kaftan and probably sporting a “bump it” too!

It was a great time and this October we will be jamming to…THE M’Effin Bee Gee’s!

Loser Lounge Tribute to George Michael

It has literally taken me a full week to finally formalize words to describe what I saw this past Friday. We have seen many a good losers lounge tribute. The Elton John Tribute back in the late 90’s was right up there with the best show seen. That was until this past Good Friday.

From Anna Copa Cabanna starting the set on a patrons table singing “Wake me up before you Go-Go” to Kalia Floreska’s version of “Careless Whisper” it was a helluva show. Naturally “Freedom 90” with the entire cast dancing with the audience was fun then there was “I want your sex”. Let me jus say that it is good to know that EGP is one of us because when dude threw down his velvet coat and revealed the banana hammock and assless chaps…..I am glad to know I won’t be the reason that EGP needs therapy when she gets into her mid 30’s.

Probably the funniest/off color song was Julian Maile’s “Heal the Pain” where he gave the great line “So Jesus died today but he will be back in 3 days. Pretty much anything goes!” Oh come on, you laughed at that. I know you did.  I am going to stop right there because I hear thunder in the distance.

IMG_0658I have seen some interesting Tie Bars before but this one looks a little restricting.

IMG_0660 - CopyAnyone wearing an 18″ cross around your neck on Good Friday has to know how to party right?

IMG_0673Brother Brooks, why don’t you say hello? I am 10 feet from you.

Have a good weekend. It is RoboPalooza this weekend as Momma is out of Town!

Have you ever seen a grown man sing “I want your sex” wearing Ass Less Chaps and a banana hammock on Good Friday?

Oh did I get your attention with that blog post? Well yes, it did happen to me this past Friday. Sorry folks but I don’t have enough time to really tell you about this. I am kinda bizzy but I wanted to make sure that I made a post on Easter Monday.

Oh and yes here are the pictures for you sick bastards.

IMG_0686Thanks to UWS H for the pics. I am sure she spit her drink out when I asked her last night for these pictures.

IMG_0688Soak it in there folks, soak it in. I have tried to drink enough Vodka this weekend to get this image out of my head and it hasn’t work.

Shout out to SBM on her first day of school in Baltimore. You got this!

Weekends are for rest right?

I am glad that the weekend is over. I am about worn out and it is only Monday! Now I promised my boss that I would not have “Whisky Voice” this morning so keep those “Oh CBT is hungover” because that isn’t the case. After our snow day on Thursday I had a bunch of stuff to get completed on Friday and play catch up. I get done with my day and head over to the Cigar joint for a quick cigar before I have to get ready to go out that night.

Friday night we headed down to Joe’s Pub to catch Losers Lounge tribute to Philly Soul. Not sure what that is? Think Teddy Pendergrass, The Spinners, The Delfonics and songs like “Love Train”, “Disco Inferno” and who could forget “You got what I need.” The show was great as usual and we headed to Blue Ribbon for a 1AM dinner reservation. Blue Ribbon was a mainstay when we would come up to visit Maria in New York. The fried chicken and oysters did not disappoint.

Saturday we slept in a little considering we got home at 3AM. I get my normal errands done and Mrs. Trumpet had to get some studying done. UWS Girl had mentioned about attending the Central Park Ice Festival Silent Disco and considering it was cold but not too cold I was game. Mrs. Trumpet stayed behind so I headed crosstown to W72nd street. Met up with her at an Irish Dive Bar by the name of Malachy’s. Trust me when I say that this place did not disappoint. The bartender was in her late 60’s and resembled Flo from the old sitcom “Alice.”  Headed over to the park and I learned something very valuable about free events in New York. Everyone and their brother will show up if you don’t have to pay for it. Met up with some friends to watch the Silent Disco for a while and ended up heading back to the house.

Sunday we had a friend in town from the old ACMB days and frequent offender of Belize Trips. Met up with her and her husband and tried ABC Kitchen for brunch. Let me tell you, the 3 week reservation that I had to get was well worth it. Hung out with LAB and her husband and we laughed and caught up. Since it was sleeting earlier in the day Mrs. Trumpet and I decided to behave on Sunday and she took a nap while I went to have a cigar with the boys. Made some spaghetti gravy/sauce and watched the Grammy’s.

teddyI have to say his Teddy Pendergrass is pretty good.

losers-loungeI should have pressed my parents to let me play the Tambourine in band.

img_0324I think they had a couple bottles of booze there.

img_0329Thanks again for the Vino and the California Oranges LAB and RB. I bet we will run into you in Belize in October! Love you guys.

Hope you had a good weekend too!
