Where Have You Been and What Are You Doing This Weekend?

Apologies to my 14 readers, I have been kinda busy as of late. Mary Louise and I had some friends in town and went out to ABC Cocina to have lunch with them on Saturday. We hadn’t eaten there and we had a great time catching up. That evening we went back into the city and had dinner with the Landlord at a Little Italy establishment. Sunday Mary Louise headed out on the road and is in Spain for a couple days. Then she goes to France for a couple more days. Then she finishes up in London this weekend.

Because I am such a humanitarian I decided to head across the pond on Thursday night to hang with her over the weekend. Granted because she has her a nice hotel room in Westminster close to the Thames river doesn’t suck. As of now we have plans to see Papua New Guinea Mike on Saturday and The Thompson’s on Sunday. Other than that we are going to wing it.

Got my teef polished last week and good news! No Cavities!
Also got the Shoes polished too! This is UWS Holly’s favorite place!

The New York City Marathon 2018

What the? Carbunkle is posting on a Sunday? Hell, that fat fucker hasn’t posted in a week and now he is posting on Sunday? Ease up folks, we have been busy.

When we moved from 1st Ave btw 71st & 72nd to Brooklyn I realized that we were losing a prime Marathon watching spot. Thankfully I just found out we are a block from the Marathon route so I may swing by and yell for complete strangers in a couple of hours. I can’t hang all day because I have a prior engagement this afternoon. Don’t judge but I am attending a 7 year old’s birthday up in the Bronx so I will miss a lot of the Marathon shenanigans today. If you are wondering what I am talking about, please peruse this worthless dribble post.

Before I start to drone on. Best of luck to Mary Louise’s former work buddy J(squared) aka “Jolly Pocket” and my work buddy Kai who are running today. I am sure that there are others running but best of luck to the both of you. I ran a half marathon one time and I still am still limping because of it. 26 miles on these shitty New York Streets….You Da Real MVP!

Earlier this week my buddy @Brizzyc was inquiring on the book of face about a good vantage point to watch the marathon. I referred her to a bar on 1st Ave at 63rd Street. I may have visited it a couple of times when we lived in the UES…… I further went so far as to recommend a “slinger of the spirits” to seek out at said bar. Hopefully Mermaid A will be working this Sunday. Christ, that woman has been out of the office more than Trump, Marsha Blackburn, or Brian Kelsey!

Brizzy, one of these days we need to grab a beer. Then again it is probably best that you and G-Man haven’t met up with Me and Mary Louise. The establishment that we were visiting probably would have run out of beer.

IMG_4591This is our slinger of spirits and also good friend Mermaid A. Don’t you hate her? Cute, can balance on a long board, but she can’t text “come to the bar for shots” that well. BTW Mermaid A. – when are you working again?

IMG_4590Finish the Race Kai and beat yesterday! you go this!

IMG_4588Go get them Jolly!

And as always, thank you to the Runners, The Volunteers, and all those who will protect the runners, the volunteers and the spectators.

Pictures from the Week(s)

Got a bunch of pics on the ole Camera roll that aren’t all shitty firework pictures so I will share with you today. Taking next week off because I am going to be busy making sure that the parents of Mary Louise and my (if I conjugated that wrong kiss my ass, I am typing this at 2AM because I can’t sleep) godchild don’t drink any tainted water on the fun side of the border wall. Oh I am sure that I will probably upload one or two pics next week. Anyhoo have a good weekend and keep cool.

IMG_3646We have now arrived at Swamp Ass Temps in the Subway. What you don’t see or smell is the sweat pooling in my shoe or the faint smell of GoldBond

IMG_3670Shout out to Baker Street Pub who was nice enough to put on the Summer League game for us last week. And Happy Birthday to our favorite slinger of Bud Light!

IMG_3586My Favorite Greek Restaurant has a really cool display of prayer beads in their front lobby that I just noticed.

IMG_3584That right there is old Skool Midtown Uniform or the Frank H Sweater Vest! Oh and the temps that day were well into the “Feels like 100”! What the Corn Bread Feck Pops!

IMG_3562Shout out to Shannon O’ L as I saw this shirt and thought of her.

IMG_3653When in Hipster Brooklyn…… Note the prices on the 2X4’s and half case too

IMG_3567I do love living here because I see stuff here that reminds me of living in Memphis. I mean who didn’t see this on Summer Avenue or on Stage Road atop the hill in Rocking Raleigh?

IMG_3566Mary Louise Geranium, MAP is very excited to just read smut books next weekend in Mexico. I am proud of her but will still divorce her ass if she goes to be a Damned Doctor. *editor’s note – that cheap ass University couldn’t spring for a sheepskin holder?*

Have a good weekend folks and hug each other!

Pictures of the Week

Well we made it to Friday guys! The schools are out for the summer up here so it is officially summer in the North East. This weekend we are excited in the fact that we really don’t have much planned other than a show on Saturday night/Early Sunday morning. Mary Louise told me that she wants to sleep in tomorrow as her ass has been getting up early heading to Penn to catch early trains into New Jersey.

Anyway here are some pictures from the past weeks;

IMG_3495Such a mean woman. Looking out for my best interest so I don’t get my ass fired.

IMG_3480Since we have grills on the 3rd floor I took advantage of them. Honey Ginger Teriyaki marinated Pork Tenderloin that Ernie Mellor of A Moveable Feast/Hog Wild Catering makes.

IMG_3481Hog Wild’s BBQ Shrimp on the grill (they ask that we cook on the foil) very strange if you ask me.

IMG_0428What in the Actual Fuck? Anyone who wears shorts with a suit aka Eddie Munster should have their throat punched. Do you hear me?

IMG_3419Coming up on the 3 year anniversary of us living up here.

IMG_3421When in Times Square

IMG_3423Someone buy my mothers house won’t you? We are jumping the gun and putting her in the Retirement Home with an open Bar. (I am kidding, she is moving near my sister in East Memphis)

IMG_3498A Midtown Uniform Sighting. It was in the mid 80’s that day but douche nozzle felt the need to wear a vest to keep him warm.

IMG_3501I still don’t understand the Pickleback thing

IMG_3500Took her 4 years to finally understand that when I tell her something alcohol related just accept it and don’t ask questions.

IMG_3499If it was only in my size…

Have a good weekend

Pictures of the Week – Who doesn’t love cold and rain?

Yeah, pretty much this weather sucked balls. If it wasn’t blistering cold it was a gully washing rain. Here are some pictures from the past weeks.

IMG_2988_LIDon’t you hate waking up the morning after a couple of beers and you text your drinking consultant? Oh come on….you know that you have done it. Stop judging me RJ and JL. You too LVD we have all done it!

IMG_2987“Why is there a bunch of crap in the sink?” – said the next morning after aforementioned drunken bender.

IMG_2976Sober….ish

IMG_2951Oh.Hell.No! If he wasn’t over 6 feet I was going to go over there and tell him that it wasn’t capri pant season yet!

IMG_0935Happy Birthday to this little Devil! Back when you were little and cute and didn’t have hair on your pencil.

Carnegie Deli pastramiThis always helps when you over serve yourself.

We are heading over to Philly this weekend for a 3year old birthday party. I bet it is going to be cold.

The things you see running the marathon

Like I said earlier this week if you have never witnessed a Marathon it is a special time. The New York Marathon is a huge and as Katherine Switzer said; “If you are losing faith in human nature, go out and watch a marathon.” She hit the nail on the head with that comment.  Below are some funnier costumes we saw this past Sunday.

IMG_2111The Blues Brothers braving the rain on 1st Avenue

IMG_2110Wizard of Oz runners. S/O to the St. Jude Hero in the back of the picture

IMG_2109Dude don’t fucking Marathon and Text! That is Rule 2 behind ‘get nipple guards’

IMG_2101Um ok, I get it Mario

IMG_2100Yo Luigi, you better get your ass in gear, you be running second

IMG_2112She.Is.Wearing.Flip.Flops.For.A.Marathon. Yes saw that too!

IMG_2098I can’t really give them grief because if I ran this far I would be wearing a Tu-Tu also

IMG_2097In the middle of the 2 yellow shirt runners is a blind person. How cool is that!

IMG_2088Viva France!

IMG_2081Ok, I will bite, I guess that the other superheroes took the day off

IMG_2079Didn’t know it was a formal affair!

IMG_2078Running Aztec or is he a Mayan.

IMG_2072Don’t mess with his Tu-Tu

IMG_2080He must have lost a bet

andi and joNow the 50K runners who finished the marathon got a medal but these two were the real MVPs of the Marathon. They kept us in ‘bottled water’ after the Quitter Bus went by. Love me some J & A!

Have a good evening, it is supposed to be cold tomorrow!

Hey Kid…..

Bonus post today considering that it is Super Bowl Sunday. Ahh yes the only day of year where eating your face off on wings, pizza, and cheese dip is perfectly acceptable while downing a gallon of beer. Since I really don’t have a NFL team that I call my own. I mean I do pull for the Jets over the Giants because they are the Cubs of the NFL. But what I do care for on Super Bowl Sunday is the score was because I got money on a couple of football boards.

Football boards are as American as Apple Pie and Facebook debates on if the president is doing a great job or not. When I was in Memphis pretty much every bar that I would frequent would have one for the ‘big game’ and pay in was typically a buck to 20 dollars depending on the establishment. I remember back in the day when Rocky would have the 100.00 board and you thought of that as big money. They would have payouts at the end of each quarter but still the chance to win 2K was always fun.

Moving up here betting is on steroids. Not only do they have 5 dollar boards they also have hundred dollar, thousand dollar, two thousand dollar and yep even a ten thousand dollar board. There is a rumor that one of the big investment banking firms downtown has a million dollar board but I haven’t confirmed this. The cigar joint that I frequent has a couple of them and rather than pay out after each quarter they pay out at the end. Talk about a nice day at the track, who wouldn’t want to win 10K on a stupid football game? (psst – don’t tell Mrs. Trumpet but I am in on that board and even splitting another square with a buddy of mine)

Even my boss gets in on the action. Now gambling is frowned upon at the tour bus company but she was getting in on some action for her son’s baseball team for a fund raiser called 50-50. She wasn’t too sure where to pick her square so I told her that she should either go 4 across and 3 down for her birthday (same as mine I might add) or go X across and 10 down because she is hitting a big birthday this year. Both squares were already taken so I suggested she put her anniversary date.

So for me, I really don’t give 2 shits on who wins the game, well yes I do. I want the Falcons to win just because everybody up here hates the Patriots. But all I want is for the final score to be with the last numbers to be Falcons 3 and the Patriots 9. That way we will be getting paid at Baker Street. Also I hope that Jo’s numbers come in too because she went BIG BALLS and is playing the 2K buy in at the pub across the street from Baker Street.  Me I get a text from AS who works at SP and he asked me if I wanted in on a 1K board. Thankfully the squares were sold out before I could talk Justin in half with me. ?

0409501001484255879_filepickerDid you know that there is more money wagered on the Coin toss than the whole game?

img_0262-1 5K payout if we win! Hell to the yes!

Have a good day and don’t be a P word and call in sick tomorrow. Nobody likes a quitter!

Pictures of the Past Weeks

This goes back to when we had EGP in town for Thanksgiving to current day.

img_2625EGP and I went to go watch them blow up the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Floats on Wednesday night.

img_2632Fiona didn’t want any part of the picture. We were going to send it as our Christmas Card this year but it would just confuse a lot of people.

First Ave closed until further notice because of bad bricks

This past Thursday after work we decided to head down to our favorite pub and have a drink. We like Baker Street Pub because the bartenders are friendly and having happy hour specials doesn’t hurt either. The bar is on First Avenue at 63rd street and is walking distance from our joint on First Avenue. It was the same bar that we were heading to when we got to see the Pope back in September. On our journey we notice that, once again, the NYPD bike rack was up and NYPD were not letting folks go beyond 64th street. We asked an officer what was up and he told us that the building that had the bricks fall off of it earlier in the week had some more bricks fall off it. All of the businesses on First between 63rd and 64th were dark and closed since no traffic was allowed past the barricades.   We decided to head to our second favorite bar The Subway Inn on Second and 59th and walked down York to get around the No Traffic Zone. Well we saw the bricks that fell and I am hoping that the establishments will be open soon.

IMG_9904

Here is the “bad” building. Notice the scaffolding and netting on the South Side of the building. I swear  if I ever wanted to be a multi millionaire I would have opened a scaffolding company.

IMG_9902

Just past the Liquor Neon sign is Baker Street. Locked up tighter than Dick’s Hatband.

IMG_9905

Yeah, I would say that this is a problem…I understand that they evacuated the building after this happened.

IMG_9907

And Thanks for the heads up Fox News, could have used this earlier!

May none of your bars be closed due to faulty bricks this week.

Halloween in NYC and the Upper East Side

To say that the ole Pagan holiday is big up here is an understatement.  Walk around the Upper East Side and I see that the town homes are big on decorating up here as well. Plans for the weekend right now are undecided except for a celebratory dinner at Red Rooster in Harlem and some drinks with friends. The West Village’s Halloween parade is always a prime destination here but considering it is Saturday night, the time change and I need good ju-ju…..I think multiple drinks will take its place. I will report later but here is what is going on in the Upper East Side.

IMG_9321Nope this isn’t a decoration, this is someone’s gargoyle looking down on 75th street

IMG_9322Considering that Pumpkins are 99 cents a pound up here we opted to drink beer instead of getting a jack-o-lantern

IMG_9323As seen on 76th street

IMG_9324This little joker scares the crap out of people texting and walking past their townhome

IMG_9326This one takes the cake, this is like the neighbor who lived in South Bluffs and did it up for Christmas!

IMG_9327Like I said, they go all out!

IMG_9328I can see my favorite Hotel in Belize doing something like this

IMG_9330I met the owner and asked if anyone ‘borrows’ the heads, he said that he used to have a problem but his neighbors keep an eye on his decorations.

IMG_9331Not even the street trees are safe.

IMG_9332Here is another decoration on 73rd by my favorite cigar place

IMG_9341Even my favorite Bar on 63rd street gets into the decoration

IMG_9344As seen on 68th

IMG_9385On my walk home from the subway

IMG_9386Got to love their decorating

IMG_9387Here is another one I see on the way home

IMG_2739We will make it down there one of these years

I don’t doubt that my former upstairs neighbors will be doing it up big this weekend.
